RegaTora ("we," "our," or "the app") provides Torah learning reminders based on user-selected apps and learning preferences. This Privacy Policy explains what information RegaTora accesses, how it is used, how it is stored, and what controls users have.
1. Information RegaTora Accesses
- Installed launcher apps, so you can choose which apps to monitor.
- App usage events for apps you selected, so the app can detect when one of those apps is opened and trigger a learning reminder.
- Notification permission status, battery optimization status, and related system settings needed to keep reminders working reliably.
- In-app preferences and state, such as selected apps, monitoring status, disclosure acceptance status, preferred learning track, saved learning positions, cooldown timing, cached weekly reading data, and local trigger history.
- In non-production tester-enabled builds, local debug logs that may include recent app monitoring and reminder activity, device/app version details, and error traces.
RegaTora may also use internet access for limited supplemental data, such as weekly Torah-reading lookup or content/metadata fallback requests.
2. How We Use Information
- Let you choose which apps should trigger reminders.
- Detect when a selected app opens, including while RegaTora is in the background.
- Show Torah learning reminders at the right time.
- Prevent reminders from firing too frequently.
- Save your preferences and continue your learning from the last saved position.
- Load or resolve limited supplemental Torah-calendar or metadata information when needed.
- Support debugging when a tester explicitly chooses to export recent logs from a non-production tester build.
3. What We Do Not Use Data For
RegaTora does not use app usage data or your selected app list for advertising.
In the current version of RegaTora, selected apps, monitoring state, and local trigger history are stored on the device. RegaTora does not currently send app usage history or selected app selections to our own servers.
If future versions introduce analytics to improve the app, we intend to limit that collection to product and performance metrics where possible and avoid sending personally identifying information. This Privacy Policy and the app's in-app disclosures will be updated before any such changes take effect.
4. Data Sharing
RegaTora does not currently sell or share your app usage history or selected app selections with third parties for advertising or marketing.
RegaTora currently bundles core Chumash, Rashi, Onkelos, Tehilim, Bavli Talmud, and Steinsaltz content in the app for offline use. The app may still contact third-party services for limited supplemental functionality such as weekly Torah-reading lookup, Daf Yomi lookup, or content/metadata fallback. Your use of third-party provided content or calendar data may also be subject to those services' own terms and privacy practices.
In non-production tester-enabled builds, the app may also let you manually export recent local logs through WhatsApp or the Android share sheet. This export happens only when you actively choose to share logs.
5. Data Storage and Retention
RegaTora currently stores core app state locally on your device, including:
- selected apps
- monitoring enabled or disabled state
- disclosure acceptance status
- cooldown and trigger timing state
- cached weekly Torah-reading payloads
- preferred learning track
- saved learning positions
- recent local debug logs in non-production tester-enabled builds, which are rotated and trimmed on-device
This information remains on the device until you change it, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
6. Background Monitoring
If you enable app monitoring, RegaTora may continue checking for selected app openings while running in the background and after device restart, so it can deliver learning reminders at the intended time.
This monitoring depends on system permissions and settings such as Usage Access, notifications, and battery optimization behavior.
7. Your Choices and Controls
- Turn monitoring on or off in the app settings.
- Change the list of selected apps.
- Revoke Usage Access or notification permissions in Android settings.
- Change battery optimization behavior in Android settings.
- Choose whether or not to manually share recent logs when tester log-export tools are available in non-production tester builds.
- Clear app data or uninstall the app to remove locally stored data.
8. Children's Privacy
RegaTora is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children through remote server-side accounts. If you believe the app includes information that should be removed or corrected, contact us.
9. Security
RegaTora stores core monitoring state locally on-device and uses Android system protections and app sandboxing available on the device. However, no method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
